Shades of Deep Purple: Part 7

Published on 29 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

We’re halfway through the 2018/2019 Serie A season. Fiorentina have defied expectations so far, but that’ll only make the bigger teams even more determined to knock us back down.

In today’s chapter, I will talk you through the first few weeks of 2019, which includes the start of our Coppa Italia pursuit, plus our mid-season transfer business. Prepare to say goodbye to one of the unsung heroes of this Fiorentina team…

P.S. If you missed it last time, you can catch up on Part 6 here.

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 6

Published on 28 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

I’m fast approaching the halfway point of my first season as Fiorentina manager. This bumper part features SIX matches – including a top-of-the-table duel with Lazio – as we continue our charge towards a top-four finish.

If you haven’t read Part 5 yet, then oh boy, you’ve missed a cracker. Click here if you want to see what happened when I had my first major falling-out with one of my players.

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 5

Published on 26 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

After all the excitement that came Fiorentina’s way in October, I’m hoping November will be a rather less stressful month. That doesn’t seem awfully likely, though, with fellow high-flyers Roma awaiting us at the Olimpico.

In case you missed it last time round, you can read Part 4 here and pretend that we’re still in October. (Yes, I know we’re still in October in real life… unless you’re reading this after Halloween, in which case… argh, THAT’S NOT THE POINT!)

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 4

Published on 24 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

The Football Manager deities have been smiling on Fiorentina so far this season. The journey through Serie A has been very smooth… perhaps a little too smooth. As we enter October, I’ve got this nagging fear that our ride could be derailed pretty soon, especially with a certain Madeiran menace looming large.

If you missed Part 3, you can click here to catch up on all the latest drama in Florence.

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 3

Published on 23 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

The 2018/2019 Serie A season is underway, and my reign as Fiorentina manager has started brightly, to say the least. If you missed out on all the fun last time out, you can quickly revisit Part 2 here.

In today’s chapter, we will progress through all five of our fixtures in September and start to develop an idea of whether we’re capable of European qualification. Before all that, though, there’s something I just want to get off my (rather sizeable) chest…

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 2

Published on 22 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

Welcome back to “Shades of Deep Purple”. My reign as Fiorentina manager is about to get underway in earnest. Today’s post includes a round-up of our pre-season campaign, plus the opening two matches of the Serie A season – at home to AC Milan, and then away to Sassuolo.

If you missed out on my squad report and my initial tactical plans, you can go back to Part 1 here.

Shades of Deep Purple: Part 1

Published on 21 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

What better way to officially kick off “Shades of Deep Purple” than with arguably the most memorable track from that album, which came out 50 years ago? (I may not may not have rummaged my father’s record collection for that particular gem.)

Anyway, I get the feeling you’re not here for a monologue about 60s psychadelic rock. You’re here for the start of my first Football Manager 2019 career – and the first story on Fuller FM.

This opening post will see me introduce you to the Fiorentina squad and outline my initial tactical plans for the season ahead. If you missed the preview detailing the history of this great club, you can still find it here.

Setting up Screen Flow in FM19

Published on 19 October 201812 July 2026 by Chris Fuller1 Comment

Back in the days of Championship Manager, the game used to automatically show you the latest results from major competitions such as the World Cup and the Champions League. Some of you probably miss that now, though you can still set that up manually on Football Manager 2019.

Hidden in the Football Manager settings is an underrated feature called ‘Screen Flow’. It can look daunting at first glance, but this guide will take you through every step of the process.

Screen Flow can also be a useful tool for finding exciting young prospects before other clubs snap them up. Tracking the statistics of various continental and international youth competitions can alert you to some potential starlets who you might then want to send your scouts to look at.

Shades of Deep Purple: Preview

Published on 18 October 20188 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

The Football Manager 2019 beta is now live! That means I will be launching my first FM19 story – “Shades of Deep Purple” – very soon on Fuller FM. Over the course of that save, I will aim to restore Fiorentina to their former glories in Serie A and Europe.

To whet your appetite, let me take you on a mini-tour through Florence – and the history of ACF Fiorentina – before giving you a taster of what’s to come. This will be quite a long post, so you might want to get yourself a snack first.

My plans for Football Manager 2019

Published on 16 October 201812 July 2026 by Chris Fuller

With seemingly only a few days left until the Football Manager 2019 beta goes live, I guess it’s about time I told you what I my plans are for the upcoming game.

When it comes to FM over recent years, I have tended to have one short-term save before later embarking on a longer career. Things probably won’t be different for me on FM19.

And so here are the two careers I plan to have, each of which will be updated (mostly) daily on Fuller FM. I’ll go into more detail when I start said careers, but this post is just to give you a quick synopsis on each of them.
