Lyn On Me: Season Review 2021

Marit Enstad’s reign as Lyn 1896 manager has already had its up and downs. Her first season nearly ended with Lyn reaching the 2. divisjon play-offs… but her second went spectacularly wrong and almost delivered an unexpected relegation!

Nobody really knew what to expect at the Bislett in 2021 then. Marit kept faith in a large part of her squad, hoping that a few additions would turn an underperforming team into a unit capable of challenging for promotion again.

This Season Review will assess Lyn’s results and statistics from the past year before looking ahead to the next one. There will be huge spoilers below, so make sure you’ve caught up on the story so far before continuing. You can find Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5 in the links provided.

Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 5

This is it, folks. We’re coming to the end of the 2021 season, and this looks like being the year in which Marit Enstad and Lyn 1896 finally make it out of the 2. divisjon!

Lyn enter the end-of-year run-in standing top of the table. You can read about their most recent results here to get yourself caught up before the big finale.

When you’re ready, read on to see if Marit’s men can get the job done – and book their place in the 1. divisjon for next season. Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 5”

Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 4

This Football Manager 2019 adventure looks like it’s about to get a lot more exciting. Some impressive results in the previous chapter (which you can read here) have turned Lyn 1896 into serious challengers for promotion to the 1. divisjon.

There are 10 games left in the 2021 season, and Lyn are sitting pretty in their 2. divisjon group. The summer transfer window has come and gone with little movement at the Bislett, so Marit Enstad is clearly happier with her squad now than she was this time last year! Will stability be the key to success?

Just like last season, I’m going to split the run-in into two chapters. Part 4 is all about Lyn’s attempts to consolidate a strong position, and we’ll then find out in Part 5 whether they can seal the deal. Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 4”

Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 3

Despite the usual early-season wobbles, Lyn 1896 are in a good spot after the first eight games of the 2021 campaign. Hopes remain high that this will be the year they finally get out of the 2. divisjon – in the right direction.

You can find Part 2 here if you haven’t read it yet. For those of you who are up-to-date, we’ll now check in with Marit Enstad as she takes Lyn into those pivotal summer months. Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 3”

Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 2

Five-and-a-half months have passed since Lyn 1896 last kicked a ball in anger in the league. Back then, they were simply relieved to have staved off relegation from the 2. divisjon. Now, though, a positive winter transfer window has improved the mood at the Bislett and left the Bastionen feeling optimistic.

If you haven’t yet caught up with Lyn’s transfer business, you can read about it all right here. Otherwise, let’s crack on with the 2021 season and join Marit Enstad… Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 2”

Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 1

Hello and welcome to the latest installment of my Football Manager 2019 blog series. Over the last two seasons, we’ve been following the progress of Lyn 1896 as their manager Marit Enstad tries to lead them back into the top flight.

2019 was a good year for Lyn, who missed out on the 2. divisjon play-offs by a very narrow margin. By contrast, 2020 was a miserable affair – so much so that Marit almost lost her job before saving her beloved club from relegation.

I have a feeling, though, that this third year in the third tier could be the charm for Marit’s men. I will now hand over to the first lady of the Bislett as she outlines her preparations for the 2021 season. Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 3, Part 1”

Lyn On Me: Season Review 2020

Marit Enstad has now completed two seasons in charge of Lyn 1896. After overseeing an encouraging first year back in the 2. divisjon, expectations at the Bislett were heightened for the 2020 campaign. However, a probable promotion challenge… didn’t exactly turn out as planned.

In this Season Review, we will look at Lyn’s results and see which players stood out in the team. We’ll then learn of Marit’s initial plans for the winter transfer window before finding time to track the progress of some former youth graduates.

If you haven’t yet caught up with the story, you can find all five chapters for Season 2 in the links provided: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and Part 5.

Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 5

If you’ve missed the last few chapters of “Lyn On Me”, you could be excused for feeling like Troy in that alternative timeline scene from the American comedy series “Community”. Things have been going spectacularly wrong for Lyn 1896 since they came within minutes of reaching last season’s promotion play-offs!

I’ll try not to spoil too much for those who haven’t yet read the most recent excerpt, but Lyn are at the wrong end of the 2. divisjon table, and Marit Enstad’s job is on the line. If the final five games go badly, then – to quote the British dream pop band The Sundays – here’s where the story ends.

Let’s get right to it, then. Will a difficult period for one of Norwegian football’s fallen giants end in survival or relegation? Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 5”

Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 4

You know your Football Manager blog save has taken on a whole new meaning when your virtual players start tweeting you in real-life. That’s what happened to me on Monday evening, while I was watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup match between France and Nigeria (incidentally, Norway were playing South Korea at the same time).

Do you remember from a few chapters ago that I mentioned Oskar Hansen ‘liking’ one of my tweets. Well, Oskar actually tweeted me on Monday to say how much he loved reading this storyThen, about half an hour later, Marius Østvold replied to a tweet promoting the previous chapter, which was… a bit surreal, in a good way!

So thank you very much, Oskar and Marius, for getting in touch and showing your support for this story. Now I’ll wait patiently for Tor Fritzøe Östman to tell me how much he hates being at Rosenborg and then ask me to bring him back to Lyn 1896. Tor is a real player, right?

Anyway… the story. We left off with Marit Enstad having signed three players to try and lead Lyn up the table. Can they make a late push for promotion… or is the season about to take a dark turn? Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 4”

Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 3

Welcome to the 100th post on Fuller FM. Has it really been eight months since I started sharing my Football Manager 2019 adventures with anyone interested in reading about them? Regardless of whether you’ve been here from the start, or this is your introduction to the blog, thank you very much for visiting.

Now… where were we?

Ah, yes. It’s almost summer 2020, but the sun isn’t exactly shining on Lyn 1896 right now. Some early-season defensive disasters have left Marit Enstad’s team closer to the 2. divisjon relegation zone than the promotion places. (You can read all the gory details in the previous chapter if you haven’t already.)

Let’s get back to the story right away, because I hear Marit’s signed yet another player… Continue reading “Lyn On Me: Season 2, Part 3”
