Welcome to Fuller FM – a new blog dedicated to football management PC games, and in particular the award-winning ‘Football Manager’ series.
Before I go on, I’ll quickly introduce myself. My name is Christopher Fuller, but you can call me Chris for short. I am a 28-year-old from north-east London, and I have supported Arsenal for two decades. More importantly, as far as this site goes, I have been playing Football Manager – or Championship Manager, as it used to be – since the CM3 era in the late 1990s.
For most of my CM/FM life, I have always wanted to write and tell stories about my adventures in management. This passion I have for storytelling has grown more serious over the last few years, and in 2014, I started publishing my work on the official Sports Interactive forums. Some of you may know me there as CFuller.
My stories have developed a strong following in the ‘FM Stories’ section of the SI Community, and have been nominated for (and even won) the sub-forum’s annual awards. Now, though, I feel that it’s time to take my exploits to a wider audience. That is where this blog comes in.
OKAY… WHY FULLER FM?
I thought it would be a bit cool to incorporate my surname into the blog name, for starters. Also, I’ll partly use this blog to provide helpful tips on how to get more out of Football Manager. So yeah, I’m basically hoping to give some of you a fuller FM experience. Clever, huh?
I GUESS. WHAT CAN WE EXPECT ON FULLER FM?
At the heart of Fuller FM will be updates of my Football Manager careers from FM19 onwards. Expect plenty of writing, screenshots, and maybe a little sprinkling of humour to the bargain.
I’ve already decided on who I’ll be managing on FM19 when the beta comes out (more details in tomorrow’s post). Aside from career updates, there’ll also be the occasional guide on certain parts of game that some of you might not be familiar with.
I should add, though, that if you want advice on which wonderkids to sign or which killer tactics to use, then you’re probably not at the right place. I consider myself an above-average tactician at best when it comes to FM, and I would rather take realistic and natural improvement over becoming successful very quickly. Besides, there are plenty of excellent sites that’ll have what you’re after.
Every now and then, I will branch out of FM and look into playing and reviewing other football management games, or even simply sports simulation games. These will mainly be retro games from the 1990s and early 2000s, though I will of course consider newer titles as well.
HOW OFTEN WILL YOU BE POSTING?
I will look to publish at least one new post on most weekdays (and occasionally on weekends). My regular publication time will be 6:30pm UK time.
HAVE YOU DONE THIS BEFORE?
Kinda. By that, I mean I’ve ventured into blogging a couple of times before, with little success. I started a general sports blog as a teenager in 2009, but that didn’t go very far and has now been taken offline. I also ran a football blog during the 2012/2013 season.
Most recently, I launched my first Football Manager blog – FM Fairytale – in the spring of 2016. That only lasted a couple of months before I lost all enthusiasm for it. Consider that to be a ‘false start’, and consider this to be a new project that I am committed to for the long haul.
I won’t ramble on any longer, so before I go, I’d like to thank you for paying a visit. I hope you enjoy reading about my FM saves as much as I enjoy playing and writing about them.
